| Brazilian Ethanol attracts Ireland |

Ireland is considering using Brazilian ethanol to meet its goals of renewable energy established by the European Directive of 2020. That country has an estimated market of 163 million liters by 2010.
The promise of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 90% compared to gasoline, was one of the main attractions highlighted in the speech of the chief representative of the Sugar Cane Industry Union (Unica), Emmanuel Desplechin, in an event held by the Irish Chamber and the Embassy of Brazil in Ireland, on Nov. 8.
The meeting is the result of a partnership project between the Brazilian Export Promotion and Investment (Apex-Brazil) and the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade to promote the image of Brazilian ethanol from sugar cane as a clean source around the world.
Since 2006, Ireland has been adopting policies of tax exemptions in order to achieve progressively the 10% renewables in the transport sector and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The country's wind energy and offshore wind as its main energy sources. |
