IPCA slows in october

According to the IBGE release held this Friday (11), the National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) registered an increase of 0.43% in October, before slowing the rate of 0.53% the previous month. In the year to October, the index rose by 5.43% in the last 12 months, 6.97%.

The slowdown in October was due to the drop in rates of six of the nine groups that comprise the index. In the month, food prices decelerated to vary the rate 0.56% versus 0.64% in September, contributing 0.13 percentage points of the IPCA. The highlight of the items in the group were milk (2.47% to 0.05%), Whole Chicken (from 2.94% to -0.05%) and bean (from 6.14% to -1.88 %).

Among the regions, the largest monthly growth was recorded in Porto Alegre (0.51% to 0.98%) and lowest in Salvador (0.72% to 0.0%). In Sao Paulo, the rate decelerated from September to October (from 0.51% to 0.38%).
